About to crack *open*

Ariana threw a stone angrily at the Whompinig Willow. Her ex's face was spread clear across her thougts. His eyes when he had shoved her and how he had smacked her. Ariana flinched at the thought of his hand coming down on her. She threw another rock and watched the grand tree's feeble wiggle. She sighed and collapsed on the grass, attempting to count every red leaf on the maginificent willow. She didn't react to the footsteps coming behind her.

Jacob had been on his way out to practice soccer. He had a muggle soccer ball tucked under one arm and his cleats on. It was a sunny October day and he had also planned on going for a dip in the lake, salvaging what was last of the warm days. A rock flew up against the tree and bounced back and hit him in the head. "If you're trying to get the tree to say ow, it probably is to old to respond!" He smirked, throwing the rock back. He smiled at the young Gryffindor girl.

Ariana smirked, glad for the distraction. "Maybe I was aiming for your head" She laughed. "Is that a soccer ball?" She asked. She had developed a liking for soccer during her stay in the muggle world. She tossed the rock behind her and began dribbling the soccer ball between her feet.

Jacob kicked it out from her feet and kicked it into the air. He caught it with ease and faced the young girl. After seeing her up close, she didn't look all that young. She was actually quite pretty. "I'm Jacob, you from the muggle world?" He asked, tossing the ball back and forth in his hands.

Ariana smiled, twirling her hair. "I'm Ariana. No, I just stayed there for about a month recently" She smiled sweetly. "Are you from the muggle world?" She asked, taking his ball and bouncing it off her knee expertly. She had joined a soccer team during her period in the muggle world.

Jacob watched her bounce the ball. "I went to school there for a while, and I stay with my muggle friends over break" He shrugged. He caught the ball and kicked it toward her gently. "You have past experience with muggle sports?" He asked casually as they kicked the ball back and forth.

Ariana nodded. "I played on several sports teams" She explained, watching the ball, too shy to look him in the face. When someone looked really carefully at her they could see the welt across her face from her ex. She flinched at the thought of his hand coming down on her. The ball sailed past her as she closed her eyes, calming her nerves.

Jacob winced as she flinched. "You OK?" He asked. He retreived the ball and sat down on the grass next to her. When Ariana didn't respond he poked her in the stomach. "Are you OK?" He repeated, concerned.

Ariana had collapsed on the grass. She managed to open her eyes, fingering the welt on her cheek. "Yeah, I didn't get any sleep last night" She said. It was partly true, she was up throwing up because of her hang over. She managed to force a feeble smile. "I hust need a break" She sighed.

"What happened?" He asked, staring at the welt on her cheek. "Are you Ok?" He asked again in disbelief. Footsteps came up behind them. He looked around to see...

Ariana sighed. "I got into some trouble with...someone" She didn't want to really go into details. She laid back on the grass, trying to think of something else. She closed her eyes, feeling the soft breeze across her face. "What do you dream about?" Ariana found herself saying randomly. It was the first thing that came to mind.

Jacob laid back next to her. He consiered the question for a minute. Normally he wouln't of answered if anyone else had asked, but it was different with Ariana, it was different. "Depends" He began. "Do you mean when I'm asleep or what I want to happen?" He asked.

Ariana closed her eyes. The light hurt her head, consiering she was still somewhat hungover. She thought about that. "I was thinking about when you sleep. I dream of places and scenery" She kept her eyes closed. She felt that she could tell Jacob everything if she wanted to, it seemed like she could trust him with her life.

"I never dream about one set thing" He told her, yawning. He hadn't slept for the past few days and it was getting to him. The wind got colder and he sighed. "You wanna go back up to the castle?" He asked, getting up. He held out a hand to help her up.

Ariana opened her eyes. She took his hand and pulled herself to her feet. She brushed off her jeans and faced him for the first time in the eyes. He had the brightest blue eyes she had ever seen. She winced. "Yeah, I'm getting cold" She nodded, not able to tear her eyes from his. She shivered as the wind got colder.
